Participação de stakeholders na gestão sustentável de uma reserva floresta de propriedade estatal no estado de kwara, nigéria

Resumo

Objetivo: O estudo avalia a participação das partes interessadas na gestão sustentável da Reserva Florestal Odun, uma reserva governamental localizada na Área do Governo Local de Irepodun do Estado de Kwara, Nigéria. A reserva está sob gestão da Secretaria Estadual de Florestas com dominância de Tectona grandis e Gmelina arborea. Metodologia: As partes interessadas selecionadas para este estudo incluem os moradores rurais, o contratante de madeira e a equipe designada do Departamento Florestal do Estado de Kwara. Questionário estruturado foi utilizado para coleta de dados primários. Resultados: Os produtos recolhidos na reserva incluem madeira, lenha e folhas. A maioria dos residentes rurais não participou na tomada de decisão relativa à Reserva Florestal de Odun (87,5%), prevenção da exploração ilegal (80,0%) e na gestão da Reserva Florestal de Odun. Esforços conjuntos são necessários pelo Departamento Florestal para envolver as partes interessadas locais no manejo. Limitação da Pesquisa: O ingresso na reserva se dá mediante autorização ou pagamento de taxa ao Departamento Florestal. Originalidade: O desenvolvimento da área como um todo acabará possibilitando a concretização do objetivo de manejo sustentável de reservas florestais. A participação dará às partes interessadas o senso de propriedade necessário para a sustentabilidade e proteção contra atividades ilegais.

Biografia do Autor

Folaranmi Dapo Babalola, University of Ilorin

Dr. Fola Babalola is a professional forester. He holds BSc. (Forest Resources Management); MSc. (Forest Economics and Management); and PhD (Forest Economics) from University of Ibadan. He started his studies, teaching and research career at the University of Ibadan. He was appointed lecturer I at Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ilorin in 2011 and currently a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department. He was awarded the Vice-Chancellor Postdoctoral fellowship of the University of Pretoria (UP), South Africa from 2012 to 2014, and on completion of the postdoc was appointed Extraordinary Lecturer at UP. Dr Babalola started his professional career with humble background. His field of specialization is Forest Economics, and research interests include Social Forestry, Community Forestry, Urban Forestry, Marketing and Value Chain Analysis of Forest Products, Sustainable Forest Exploitation and Management, Agroforestry, Forestry Education, Biodiversity Conservation. He won his first research grant of ANAFE (Kenya) that fund his undergraduate dissertation. Immediately he completed his BSc, he won international scholarship to participate in the field training of Tropical Biology Association (TBA) at Kibale, Uganda in 2003. The following year (2014), he was awarded international fellowship to participate in field expedition of Earthwatch International at Gazi Bay, Kenya. During his postgraduate studies at the University of Ibadan, he was awarded Postgraduate School Scholarship Scheme for three academic sessions from 2005 to 2009.

Graduated in Forestry and Wildlife Management. Practical Training (Ecological survey, Forest Inventory and Mensuration, Tissue culturing and molecular Biology, skill acquisition in genetic resource and Biotechnology).
